Mirror mirror on the wall…: Mirror neurons and autism.
I promised to reblog some of my favorite writings and this is definitely one of them. It was the second that I ever wrote for WordPress and the one that provided the most controversy. The idea that mirror neurons are a core deficit of autism was seemingly born out of the imagination of people outside of the field. From the writing of these individuals it is obvious that they had only read about autism, but had never examined a single patient. However, the idea seemed good enough to try to get some grant funding so it was pursued. You can read a lot more about the debacle of this idea from internet sources. My favorite among many blogs on this subject is located at http://bit.ly/JZ0hzM
