Toddler death prompts FDA warning against teething necklaces, bracelets

The FDA has warned against the use of teething necklaces and bracelets for babies following the death of an 18-month-old child strangled by his teething necklace while napping, along with reports of other teething jewelry-related injuries. «Consumers should consider following the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommendations of alternative ways for treating teething pain, such as rubbing inflamed gums with a clean finger or using a teething ring made of firm rubber,» said FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb
